To begin with, I make my art because I like to show my perspectives on things to other people who don't look at the same thing the way I do. I try to capture the beauty in every one of my subjects in my picture. My subject matter is mostly everyday. In addition, I try to capture a perspective that everyone has just walked by or just have glanced at and not really realized the real dimensions to the object, such as one of my pictures features the boat building and Travelers Tower. This, in my perspective, represents the contrast between old and new. I took that picture because it was a unique difference that I wanted to capture, something that everyone could relate to. It was old and new fitting into one frame, a frame in which we call ourselves, a being. I make my work by looking at things twice, trying to find a story in each image, a story that not many people see everyday. Furthermore, the subjects I use in each image relate to myself or whatever the subject is that I am looking for. My photography is a way for me to indulge myself into the freedom of self-expression. This ultimately gives me the creative outlet to ecpress myself and what I have to say. Photography is an art that everyone can relate to with some part of themselves. This means that people can understand the message that I am trying to convey. Finally, I make my work because it is a form of self-expression for me. My work is a way of communicating without words. It allows me to communicate feelings and stories to the people who view my work. |
